Improving cooperation between Indonesia and ASEAN countries in the field of defense through ADMM to advance peace and stability in The South China Sea Region

The South China Sea, rich in mineral resources, has become a source of conflict dragging regional countries and ASEAN. Council for Foreign Relations (CFR) noted that 900 trillion cubic feet natural gas could be maximized into unlimited energy. ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting (ADMM), which is assigned as consultative instrument cooperation the defense sector, must address SCS issue. Therefore, this study aims to promote peace stability Sea Region by increasing between Indonesia sector through ADMM. This uses descriptive qualitative method. main findings demonstrate (i) geographical geostrategic position creates security dilemma almost all powers East Asia wider Asia-Pacific region, (ii) ensuring freedom navigation essential, sea lines communication (SLOCs) have importance, finally (iii) use approaches ADMM found solid improvement stability.
